The effect of peer bullying on childhood depression in primary school children with special learning difficulties (Sample. İstanbul / Bağcilar district)

This study was conducted to establish the relationship between perceptions of peer bullying of primary school children with special learning disabilities and childhood depression. Dependent variable was determined as childhood depression and independent variable was determined as peer bullying. The study was applied to 154 primary school students living in Bağcılar district of İstanbul who were diagnosed with special learning disability. The questionnaire was applied to the primary school students who participated in the study on a voluntary basis. Randomized sampling method was used. Within the scope of the analyses carried out within this survey, a significant relationship was found between the perceptions of primary school children on peer victimization and their childhood depression. According to the results of the study, peer victimization has an effect on childhood depression. These results were discussed with the light of literature.
