Abstract (EN)
Vision plays an important role in perception. Vision is seen not only as good eyesight, but also as a brain function, a mental process. This is because visual stimuli are interpreted, analyzed and processed in the brain. Difficulties in math skills are similar to those encountered in the shape-map and visual-temporal areas of visual perception. People diagnosed with learning disabilities also have problems with basic mathematical relationships and calculations or number symbols. This study was conducted on 50 children with specific learning disabilities and 50 typically developing children aged 11-14 years living on the European side of Istanbul. The data of this study were obtained by working one-on-one with the children in the classroom environment in the rehabilitation center and primary schools. Personal Information Form, Sociodemographic Form, Motor-Free Visual Perception Test-3 (MVPT-3) and Attitudes Towards Mathematics Scale were used to collect the data. As a result of the research, it was found that there was a significant difference between the scores of the mathematics attitude scale, children with normal development and children with learning disabilities; there was a significant relationship between visual discrimination scores, shape ground scores, location in space scores and interest, anxiety, necessity and mathematics attitude scale scores in children with learning disabilities. It was determined that the math attitude scale scores of children with specific learning disabilities were lower than children with normal development.
