Retrospective investigation of clinical, pathological and survival characteristics of patients diagnosed with pancreas cancer

The purpose of our study is to point out the relationship between the clinical and pathological characteristics of patients who have been treated from pancreas cancer in our center and their survival time Patients who have been diagnosed and treated in oncology ward of Gaziantep University from January 2012 till March 2021 were retrospectively evaluated. Overall survival(OS) and disese-free survival(DFS) data were analyzed by the Kaplan Meier test,as for the comparisons between groups Logrank test was used. The median age of the patients was 60.5 (20 -87 ). 59.5% of the patients were male and 40.5% were female. According to the pathological subtypes; Adenocarcinoma in 178 patients (89%), neuroendocrine type in 15 patients (7.5%), and pseudopapillary type in 7 patients (3.5%). At the time of diagnosis, 146 patients (73%) were stage IV. Metastases were present at the time of diagnosis in 146 (73%) of the patients. The median GS duration of the patients included in the study was 7 months (95% CI (5.34-8.65)) and the HS duration was 13 months (95% CI (9.39-16.60)). The duration of GS was found to be significantly longer in patients who received adjuvant chemotherapy (CT) compared to patients who did not (33.9 vs 20.1 months) (p:0.001). The duration of GS was found to be significantly longer in patients who received palliative chemotherapy compared to patients who did not (36.8 vs 15.2 months) (p:0.005). The society should be informed about cigarette consumption, which plays an important role in the development of cancer. Referring appropriate patients to the operation is important for survival.
