The reflection of Paul Valery poetics' on the pure poetry

Poésie pure, which is controversial how new or old it is, whether it was born from Edgar Allan Poe, one of the representatives of American literature, or from European literature, is a concept mostly attributed to French literature. In the history of this concept, Paul Valéry (1871-1945) is considered to be one of the prominent names. In this understanding, which became evident with the ideas that Valéry developed on poetry, poetry is a single whole with all the elements that make it up, and it almost resembles an architectural structure. Valéry states that the content and formal structure of poetry cannot be separated from each other, and develops deep thoughts about the formation of this genre. Language, music, mathematics, geometry and even physics are the sources that make up the universe of poetry for him. The basic parts of the poem are language, verse, form and sound. The poet, who also opens a wide space for creation, considers the intricate plane of poetry, which extends from its definition to its construction, creation, and reception, as parts of production. The poet, who constitutes the philosophy of the poem, finds a place for themselves in the Turkish poetry of the Republican Period with their perspective and views that go beyond his age. It has been determined by various researches, by the literature histories and texts of writers and poets, that traces of their poetic thinking system are found on a ground of the understanding known as "Poésie Pure / Öz Şiir" in Turkish Literature. The views of Valéry, who had a limited number of works translated into Turkish, were generally looked at through the translated texts, and his reflections in Turkish Poetry were not revealed in practice. In the first part of this research, the poetic views of Valéry were systematized by trying to read the texts that could form the Valéry poetics from the primary source, and to include translated texts. Accordingly, Valéry's view of poetry is divided into titles as concept, production, creation and reception. In the second part, the poems of Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar, Ahmet Muhip Dıranas and Cahit Sıtkı Tarancı, who did not ever leave the concept of "pure poetry" throughout their literary lives, were examined in the focus of these titles, and the texts in which the poets mentioned Valéry were discussed.
