Sociality and education in Niyazi Zorlu's works in the context of postmodernism

In this study, the possibilities of postmodern literature will be tested through Niyazi Zorlu's works named Scoundrel Lovers and Urban Stories. Despite the form prioritizing structure of postmodern literary theory, the subject of content has not been sufficiently emphasized. The idea that everything that can be said has been said, that there is nothing left to be said to new writers; Issues such as the problematic of the representation of reality have distanced writers more and more from social issues. The content of the new works, in which only formal concern is pursued, proceeds through fantastic and detective elements or individual troubles. Writers who have dealt with social issues for years have been criticized and their literary competencies have been questioned. Writers who have troubles to tell sometimes forget about aesthetic concerns and emphasize the social mission of literature. Postmodern literature, which has succeeded in capturing formal perfection by taking years of accumulation behind it, does not follow the social traces due to the postmodern philosophy on which it is based. Postmodernism theory expresses the end of the social. On the one hand, while some theorists talk about the end of the social, on the other hand, social problems continue to grow like an avalanche and people pay the price of social problems in their individual lives. Contrary to Baudrillard, who explains the aphasic state of society with the fact that it is now only a mass, the fact that individuals have lost their ability to come together does not prevent them from being a society. If large masses of people living in the same conditions and affected by the situations created by those conditions in the same way constitute the society. Claiming that the end of society has come, spreads the idea that there is nothing left to do, and drives the society into passivity. Passivity does not mean non-existence. In literature, there is always a judgment that talking about social issues will take away the literary value of the work. The formal breakthrough opened by postmodern literary theory expands the possibilities of literature. However, due to the perception created in the minds of postmodern literature, sterilizations are allowed in terms of content. In addition to showing all the features of the postmodern text technically, the analyzed works also have a clear ideological background. The works focusing on the living struggles of the lower class people who took refuge in the suburbs of the city clearly reveal the corruption in the system and the helplessness of people. For this reason, the text is very suitable to be evaluated in the context of sociality. The issue of education is not among the main topics in the texts. It is seen that formal education cannot go beyond being a part of the spiral of helplessness for lower-class children. The informal education that takes place in the society consists of the transmission of obedience, guilt and intimidation. Keywords: Postmodern literature, education, sociality
