Abstract (EN)

The research has been done as a randomized controlled experiment at the Prof. Dr. Cemil Taşçıoğlu Şehir Hastanesi Infant Intensive Care Unit between the dates of 01.04.2021 and 01.11.2021. 3 subject groups, group 1(cup feeding) (n=35), group 2 (breastfeeding supportsystem) (n=35), control group (n=35), In total 105 premature infants have been included in the research. The data has been collected by the responsible researcher by using "The Identifier Information Form of Premature Infants", "Premature Infant Observation Form" and "LATCH Breastfeeding Scale. Experimental group 1 has been fed at 9:00, 12:00, 15:00 using cup feeding, experimental group 2 has been fed by using the breastfeeding support system and the control group has been fed according to the routine feeding programme. Infants feeding situation, discharge time and feeding success has been evaluated by the researcher. Feeding success has been evaluated using the "LATCH" scale. When the findings were evaluated; groups have been observed to have statistically significant differences between them (p=0,001; p<;0,01). Highest LATCH score has been observed in group 2 (8,23±0,81) (breastfeeding support system), second highest score in group 1 (7,23±0,49) (cup feeding), the lowest score in the control group (7,11±0,63). Infants' discharge time when compared between groups showed: Longest time has been observed in the control group (17±14,92 days), second longest time has been observed in group 1 (14,52±16,82 gün) (cup feeding), and the shortest time has been observed in group 2 (6,14±8,99 gün) (breastfeeding support system). Conclusion: Breastfeeding support system makes the transfer to breastfeeding easier and faster compared to cup feeding, shortens the hospital stay and increases the success rate and efficiency of the infants feeding.
