Evaluation of plasma spexin, fractalkine, TNF-α, IL-1β, IFN-γ and IL-10 levels in patients with prostate cancer and benning prostate hyperplasia

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer among man. We observe prostate cancer, benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH) more frequently due to extended prostate biopsy techniques and transurethral resections. The role of the inflammatory environment in prostate cancer and benign prostatic hyperplasia is not fully understood. Chronic inflammation is thought to play a key role in carcinogenesis. In our study; peripheral blood samples were obtained from 45 prostate cancer, 56 BPH and 48 healthy patients for the evaluation of serum spexin, fractalkine, TNF-α, IL-1β, IFN-γ and IL-10 levels. In our study, we observed that there is no statistically significant difference in serum spexin levels compared to the control group in patients with BPH and prostate cancer. We concluded that serum fractalkine levels were lower in the prostate cancer group compared to the control group. In our study, we detected a significant high level of serum TNF-α in patients with prostate cancer and BPH in relation to the control group. However, we found that serum IL-1β levels were significantly higher in the prostate cancer group than in the BPH and control group. We observed low serum IFN-γ levels in the prostate cancer group based on BPH and the control group. In the prostate cancer group, we found low serum IL-10 levels in comparison to BPH and the control group. We also observed that serum IL-10 level is low in the BPH group according to the control group. The parameters evaluated in our study may be candidate biomarkers for prostate cancer. In light of the data obtained, we can say that further research on spexin, chemokins and cytokines in prostate cancer and BPH are required.
