Abstract (EN)

In this study, the examination of effectiveness of psychological counseling and guidance services in primary schools which is perceived by counselor and teachers in terms of some variables. The study was conducted with 90 psychological counselors, 31 advisor and 211 class guidance teachers at primary schools in Mersin. Guidance and Counseling Services Effectiveness Evaluation Scale" , Personel Information Form" and "Rotter's Locus of Control Scale" are used in order to retrieve the data for this research. One way ANOVA and t-test was used for analysis of the data, Sheffe test was used to determine the source of differences among groups. According to research findings, when the perceived effectiveness of primary school counseling services is examined by the terms of 'gender' result do not show any significant level of difference, 'graduation' result show significant level of difference in the group of counselors. When the perceived effectiveness of primary school counseling services is examined by the terms of 'locus of conrtol' result show significant level of difference, 'duration of the professional experience as a counselor' and 'duration of the professional experience at the current school' results do not show any significant level of difference in the group of counselors. When the perceived effectiveness of primary school counseling services is examined by the terms of 'physical conditions of school counseling office service', 'the number of students per each counselor', 'the number of counselors employed in the school', results do not show any significant level of difference in the group of counselors. When the perceived effectiveness of primary school counseling services is examined by the terms of 'duration of the professional experience as a teacher' and 'the number of students per each counselor' results show significant level of difference in the group of class guidance teacher. When the perceived effectiveness of primary school counseling services is examined by the terms of 'gender', 'the number of counselors employed in the school', 'duration of the professional experience at the current school' results do not show any significant level of difference in the group of class guidance teacher. In addition to according to research findings, the counselors who have positive perceptions about psychological counseling and guidance service find them effective in order of 'informing', 'knowing the individual', 'psychological counseling', 'consultation', 'coordination', 'placement and follow-up'. The class guidance teacher who have positive perceptions about psychological counseling and guidance service find them effective in order of 'consultation', 'coordination', 'knowing the individual' 'psychological counseling', 'informing', 'placement and follow-up'.
