Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between the cognitive and emotional mindfulness levels of parents who receive psychological support and their levels of depressive symptoms and rumination. The sample consists of 153 parents who receive psychological support and 102 parents who do not, totaling 255 participants. The participants were administered the Sociodemographic Information Inventory, the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), the Ruminative Thought Style Questionnaire (RTSQ), and the Cognitive and Emotional Mindfulness Scale (CEMS) in a face-to-face setting. Statistical analysis revealed that the data did not follow a normal distribution according to the Kolmogorov-Smirnov normality test. Consequently, non-parametric tests such as the Spearman Correlation Analysis, Mann-Whitney U test, and Kruskal-Wallis test were employed. The results indicate that the Beck Depression Inventory scores were statistically higher in the group of parents who did not receive psychological support compared to those who did. Similarly, the Ruminative Thought Style Questionnaire scores were significantly higher in the group of parents who did not receive psychological support. The correlation analysis between the Beck Depression Inventory and the Ruminative Thought Style Questionnaire showed a positive correlation in both sample groups. Additionally, a significant negative correlation was found between the Beck Depression Inventory and the Cognitive and Emotional Mindfulness Scale. In conclusion, the differences observed between the group of parents receiving psychological support and those not receiving it highlight the importance of psychological support. The findings of this study are expected to contribute to future research and the development of preventative measures.
