Abstract (EN)

In the past and today, the concept of security has been one of the most important issues for every country and state, both in domestic and foreign policy. Today, security comes to the forefront not only as military security, but also as a concept with many political, cultural, economic and similar dimensions. In this direction, the Russian Federation has given great importance to security and security strategies in its past, present and future projections. The security perception of the Russian Federation has gone through various phases since its establishment. The geography and historical process in which Russia was established since the period of the Principality of Moscow have been influential in the formation and formation of national and international security strategies and making them today. Especially with the rise of the Soviet Union after the First World War, the concept of security has deepened and expanded. The concept of security also changed with the Russian Federation, especially as the process that started with the Arab Spring turned into a crisis in Syria, Russia's most important ally in the region, and jeopardized its strategies both in the region and in the Eastern Mediterranean. Russia took steps to improve its relations with the post-Soviet Middle East, and this process took a significant blow with the Arab Spring. The interest and influence of NATO and other western powers, especially America, towards the region has increased, especially with the strategies of the Eastern Mediterranean and the energy resources that have been discovered in the Mediterranean especially recently. With Syria, its most important partner in the region, Russia did not want to lose the Tartus Port in the Mediterranean and its influence in the region, and Russia's military, economic and international support for Syria continued increasingly. In this study, information will be given about national and international security perceptions starting from the Moscow Principality Period to the Russian Federation Period and afterwards. At the same time, the background of Russia-Syria relations and the relations between the Syrian crisis and its aftermath, its relations with other western powers and organizations, especially the United States, and Russia's strategies in the Eastern Mediterranean during and after the crisis will be examined.
