Abstract (EN)

This study was carried out on acorn production and growth characteristics (tree height, diameters at base and at breast height, and crown diameter) in two sampled areas (A1 and A2) of Turkey (Qercus cerris L.) to contribute genetic-breeding and other forestry practices of the species. Averages of acorn numbers were 269 (A1) and 416 (A2), and 343 in pooled areas. Trees within sampled area showed large difference for the acorn production. Acorn productions were significantly (p<0.05) difference between sampled areas based on result of analysis of variance. Result of analysis of variance showed significantly (p<0.05) differences between sampled areas for diameters at base and at breast height opposite to tree height and crown diameter. Growth characteristics had significant (p<0.05) impact on acorn production in sampled areas except of tree height of A2. According to results of regression analysis, crown diameter was the best predictor to estimate acorn production in A1, while it was diameter at breast height in A2.
