Abstract (EN)
Ambivalent Sexism theory is a theory that examines sexism defined by Glick and Fiske (1996) in two sub-dimensions: protective and hostile. Job satisfaction is defined by Locke (1976) as "a person's satisfaction with his job." The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between health professionals' perception of sexism and job satisfaction. In line with this purpose, in a descriptive study, the population of the research was May – August 2023. It was formed by physicians and nurses working in the internal and surgical clinics at SBU Gülhane Training and Research Hospital . The sample size calculation of the research was calculated using the sample formula with a known population. However, the physician who participated in the study voluntarily There are 290 people in total, including 145 nurses and 145 nurses. In the study, data were collected using the " Socio -demographic Information Form", "Ambivalent Sexism Scale" and "Minnesota Job Satisfaction Scale". The data obtained in the study was analyzed by SPSS 23 package program. As a result of the study, a statistically significant relationship was found between the "Ambivalent Sexism Scale (AMDS)" and the "Minnesota Job Satisfaction Scale (MISS)". It was determined that as the average sexism scores increased, the scores for job satisfaction decreased (p<0.05). However, while a relationship was found in the context of CDCS gender and marital status, a significant relationship was found in the context of MIDS in the context of gender, profession, age group, working year and intention to continue the profession (p <0.05). In terms of gender, it was determined that men's general and protective sexism scores were higher, and men's external and general satisfaction scores were higher. When examined in the context of profession, although no relationship between sexism and profession was detected, it was determined that physicians had a higher level of job satisfaction and its sub-dimensions than nurses. As a result, the levels of ambivalent sexism in health professionals were determined, examined in terms of job satisfaction, and a significant relationship was found . This study will contribute to the literature by raising awareness about gender and sexism, providing contrary results to the literature among studies conducted among health professionals, and increasing studies on the subject of the thesis. It is anticipated that providing in-service training on sexism and increasing work on job satisfaction will reduce exposure to sexism and increase job satisfaction.
