Abstract (EN)
The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of the education program on supporting healthy life style on the quality of life, sense of coherence and psychological integrity of the elderly. This is a randomized, controlled study, and with a pretest-posttest and an experimental design. The research was carried out at Çamdibi No 20 Family Health Center (FHC) in Bornova region between February and June 2018. Taking into consideration the working environment, the implementation process and the cooperation with the employees of the institution, Çamdibi created 65 years old and over elderly individuals who were enrolled in a family health unit in FHC number 20 (N = 400). The power analysis method was used to calculate the sample size of the study. The effect size was determined as 80 persons, with a median effect size (d = 0.50), at least 40 sample size for the control group at the 80% power and 95% confidence level, and 40 for the enterprise group. It is considered that 10% of the calculated number of people would be suitable because there may be loss of sampling within the research process. As a result, it was decided to take 45 people for each group. Sociodemographic data form, Quality of Life İnstrument-Older Adults Module, Quality of Life Scale, Sense of Coherence Scale, Short Psychological Resilience Scale and Katz Daily Activities Scale were used in the collection of research data. Quantitative data collection methods were used in the research. The research data were collected between February and June 2018 and the researcher interviewed face to face. The training program was applied to the group of entrepreneurs once a week for 60 minutes. In the training program, methods such as narration, sharing experiences, show-play, role play, video watching were used. The training plan was formed by the researcher in the direction of "Salutogenic Model". The average age of the elderly who constitute the intervention group is 71.76 ± 6.43 and 40.0% is in the 65-69 age group. 62.2% of the elderly are male, 75.6% are primary school graduates, 80.0% are married and 77.8% are retired. The mean age of the control group was 69.00 ± 5.64 and 44.4% were in the 65-69 age group. 57.8% of the elderly were male, 68.9% were primary school graduates, 86.7% were married and 51.1% were retired. When the posttest scores of the intervention and control groups were examined, there was a statistically significant difference between the mean scores of the Quality Of Life Scale, The Physical, Psychological And Environmental Subscale Scores, The Sense Of Coherence Scale Scores, The Subscale Scores Of The Quality Of Life İnstrument-Older Adults Module- Sensory Functions, The Autonomy Of The Elderly, Present And Future Activities, Death And Death and Intimacy subscales point average (p <0.05). There was no significant difference between the averages of the psychological resilience scores of the elderly in the intervention group and the averages of the points obtained after the training (p> 0.05). The level of effectiveness of the training program was moderate in the subscale of "Physical Domain (d = 0.67), Psychological Domain" (d = 0.55) and "Social Interaction Domain" (d = 0.62) and "Environmental Domain" subscale of the WHO Quality of Life Scale (d = 0.96) was found to be high. In all sub-dimensions of the WHO Quality of Life Scale, the working strength is high. In terms of findings and findings from the study, it was determined that salutogenetic model based education had a positive effect on life quality and sense of coherence of elderly individuals.
