A study on educational messages of Samed Behrengi stories

Written works which are written for children are very important for children in terms of completing their personal development, obtaining humanitarian values, being in harmony with the society they live, being sensitive for their environment and animals and having values that are needed nationally and universally. Children's literature products perform the mission of being informative that they undertake via educational messages that they present to reader. These messages can contribute to children's personal, universal, religious, and national development and in some cases they are used as a tool which writer presents her/his own ideological opinions. Children's literature products are one of the most significant tools in children education. Writers provide various messages to children with children's literature products. These provided messages, sometimes are composed of educational messages but sometimes they are far away from being educational. From this aspect, the messages that children's literature products give are important factors when it comes to raising children. In his books written for children, Samed Behrengi has aimed children to be sensitive to the problems of society they live as a part of that society, and to be aware of the realities of the problems of their society. In this research, Samed Behrengi's stories have been examined in terms of educational messages and contributions of these messages have been emphasized with respect to children education. In the research, criteria were taken into consideration with respect to how the features and messages should be in children's literature products. Since it was aimed to identify the educational messages in Samed Behrengi's stories and to analyze written texts, document examination model has been used amongst qualitative research designs, and content analysis technique has been used in order to collect the identified educational messages under different themes. With the purpose of establishing the categories that will be used in the research and determining the codes, the stories forming the examination objects have been read, messages have been detected and these messages have been classified into specific categories. The messages which have been classified into categories were presented to expert opinion. The messages have been rearranged which will take part in specific categories in accordance with expert opinions. Having coded the messages under five categories according to their objectives, they have been recoded under two different categories, which are direct and indirect transmission.
