The vocabulary of Şanlıurfa dialect

A local dialect is a spoken language that can vary in sound, shape, syntax and meaning within the same language and it has certain settlement areas or classes. The language of a nation with a deep-rooted past, like the Turks, is like an ocean of local dialect. One of the dialects of Türkiye Turkish is Şanlıurfa dialect, which has its own characteristics. With this study, a dictionary study has been carried out that brings the vocabulary of Şanlıurfa dialect to light. The words obtained, within the framework of the concept, are defined as "concepts related to agriculture, concepts reflecting culinary culture, concepts related to animals, kinship names, expressions used for people, concepts related to children, game names, occupational names, terms reflecting architectural culture, names of diseases, concepts related to wedding customs, astronomy terms, color names, organ names, expressions of time, exclamations, idioms, curses, terms related to music, names of objects, duplications, verbs are classified under the headings ". Apart from this, the cultural texture of Şanlıurfa province was analyzed through the words (narrow region words) which are peculiar to Şanlıurfa were determined . In the light of the scanned sources, the phonetic and morphological differences of the Şanlıurfa dialect were examined through examples. In addition, historical and geographical extensions of some words in Şanlıurfa dialect were determined and information was given about the historical course of the words. In this study, we created an index by revealing the vocabulary of Şanlıurfa dialect; In Turkiye, the Compilation Dictionary from Folk Dialect has been accepted as the main source. In addition, while forming the dictionary part of the study, works called Urfa Dialect, Urfa Central Dialect, Urfa Dialect Dictionary, Siverek Central Dialect, Şanlıurfa Proverbs and Idioms Dictionary and Urfa with Witnesses were used.
