A semiotic study on Servet-i Fünûn poems: Semantic structures in Tevfik Fikret's poetic universe

Semiotics whose research object is the meaning, first of all, strives to anlayze the structures in literary texts without moving away from science. The fine arts branch poetry which stands in a seperate place with its specific syntax,structure of image and deep sense of meaning is in semioyics's field. Poetry that presents specific linguistic pattern with expression and context plane needs synchronic research for understanding of its integrated structure. In this respect, our study focuses on poetry and its semantic pattern in the direction of Gremias Semiotics which foresees the presence of identity and oppositions in revealing meaning; seeks this identity and oppositions in the plane of expression and content. This study, analyzes the poetic world created by all the poems of Tevfik Fikret with a semiotic method. All poems that have been included and not included into his books are first of all considered as a whole and then they are described in terms of form level. A deep-level analysis is made after an emerging concrete data and the semantic structure of the artist's universe of poetry is revealed. It has been observed in which extend of the small universe that are selected through sampling, is intersected and from which directions they are seperated.
