Abstract (EN)

Travelogues, which consist of travel notes and travel memories, provide us with detailed information about respective travel time and travel places and are highly important for the cultural history. Evliya Çelebi's Travalogue/Seyahatname is a good source of information about the history, culture, language, religion, architecture, ethnicity and geography of the regions that were dominated by the Ottoman Empire in the 17th century. The thesis examines the itineration and its language structure based on the transcription of Evliya Çelebi's Travelogue from Topkapi Palace Library Bagdat (writing number 307), which has been prepared by Yücel Dağlı –Seyit Ali Kahraman, İbrahim Sezgin and published by Yapı Kredi Publications in 10 volumes. It is based on V. Volume of Evliya Çelebi's Travelogue which has been published in contemporary Turkish, preprared by Yücel Dağlı – Seyit Ali Kahraman – İbrahim Sezgin and published by Dizini and Yapı Kredi Publications. The aim of the thesis is to make Evliya Çelebi's Travelogue more understandable and conduct a philological study through providing information on places, their languages, and communities that speak these languages. The problems caused by changes in geography in the course of travel map, lack of some of the places in the travelogue today have been overcome through important clues of macro and microtopamites. This enabled us to provide a map of travel and language as accurately as possible. Keywords: Evliya Çelebi, travelogue, Travel itineraries, toponyms, languages
