Examination of the music culture of the Siverek region

This study, which examines the music culture of the Siverek County, which is a part of Şanlıurfa in the Southeastern Anatolia Region, aims to examine the music culture of the Siverek, to provide a musical perspective on the Siverek region in the light of the obtained data, and to be a study for the preservation of music culture. For this purpose, the study was carried out and necessary researches were carried out to achieve this aim. The lack of written materials about the culture of the Siverek, especially the absence of almost no studies on the music culture, has been an important factor in the emergence of this study. This study was designed as an ethnographic study within the scope of qualitative research methods. Face-to-face interview technique was used to reveal the current situation. Within the group selected and interviewed for research; The study was conducted using the face-to-face interview technique with the person or people selected from among the people who do research in the field of music culture of the region, make musicians in the local sense, are in a certain formation among the institutions in the region, run a private institution in the field of music, and have a bachelor's degree in music. The data obtained as a result of face-to-face interviews provided a perspective on the music culture of the Siverek region and certain results were reached in this direction. Due to the geographical location of the Siverek region, it is affected by the cultural structure of the surrounding regions or affects the surrounding regions, the level of influence of the cultural values on the Siverek local music is high, there is not enough work on the transfer and protection of the Siverek music culture, and the existing studies do not go beyond individual efforts. It has been determined in the research that there is a corruption in music culture. The inadequacy of studies on music culture in the Siverek region makes this research important for the region and it is predicted that it will contribute to scientific and academic studies on music culture of Siverek.
