The relationship between the school head's management style and the teacher's organizational commitment according to class teachers

Organizational commitment is extremely important at school, as in many institutions. It is possible for teachers to show a successful performance, to deal with students in a highly motivated way, and to have strong organizational commitment. The management style adopted and exhibited by school principals also affects teacher's organizational commitment level positively or negatively. In this study, the relationship between school principal's management style and teacher's organizational commitment was investigated according to the opinions of classroom teachers. The research is a study in relational screening model. In the study, 300 classroom teachers working in public primary schools in Aydın province Efeler district were sampled. "Perceived Manager Management Style Scale" and "Organizational Loyalty Scale" were used as data collection tools in the study found. Since the data of the "Perceived Manager Management Style Scale" and the "Organizational Commitment Scale" did not show normal distribution, the Mann-Whitney-U and Kruskal Wallis Tests, which are non-parametric tests, were used in the analysis. According to the findings obtained from the research data, classroom teachers are of the opinion that school principals show "Collaborative Management Style" at a high level, "Authoritarian Management Style" and "Disinterested Management Style" at a low level, and "Responsive Management Style" at a very low level. According to the opinions of the classroom teachers, it was concluded that organizational commitment was moderate, moral commitment was high, self-seeking commitment was moderate, and forced commitment was very low. A significant and positive relationship was determined between the management style adopted by the school principal and the level of commitment of the teachers. Accordingly, as the school principal's "Collaborative management style" increases, "moral commitment" increases and "forced commitment" decreases.
