Abstract (EN)

The research has been done to find out the effect of the socio-economic factors on the success level of the vocational and technical education students.The research population contains 11th class students studying at 7 public vocational and technical schools in 2008-2009 academic year in Zeytinburnu town of İstanbul city. 260 students at 11th class take place in the sample of this research.The survey prepared by the researcher to find out the data includes 26 items.The items related to the demographic information, socio-economic status, school and personal effects exist together. The frequency (f) and percentage(%) calculations have been done for the analysis of the data obtained through the survey. To determine whether there is a meaningful relation between the groups chi-square,T test and variance analysis have been used.These outcomes have been obtained from the research:As the result of the frequency analysis, vocational and technical education students have similar characteristics in terms of socio-aconomic factors like family income, parents? education status and jobs, household populousness.As the consequences of the analysis meaningful diversification has been found out between gender and the factors affecting selection of the department to study, the aim of choosing vocational and technical education, personal room, attending school course, summer vacation and school success. An indirect meaningful relation at p:0<0,05 value has been discovered between sibling number and personal room. A meaningful relation between house belonging and the course attended at public or private school has been observed with p:0,021<0,05 test value.
