Examination of the relationship between the communication skills and bullying behaviors of sports spectators

This research was conducted to examine the relationship between the communication skills of sports spectators and their physical-verbal bullying behaviors. In this study, Communication Skills Scale and Verbal Physical Bullying Behaviors Scale of Sports Spectators were used. While the universe of the research consists of sports viewers in Turkey, a total of 810 sports viewers make up the sample, including 465 women and 345 men who are sports viewers in Turkey. The sports spectators within the scope of the research were reached via google forms and the data obtained were analyzed in the SPSS 25.0 package program. In the analysis of the data obtained from the research, after the frequencies were taken, reliability analysis and skewness and kurtosis normality test were performed for the reliability of the data. Since it was determined that the data showed a normal distribution, parametric tests were applied in the research findings. Post-Hoc (Tukey) test was performed for the content of difference in Anova analysis.In the analysis of the data, descriptive statistics were used to determine the communication skills and physical-verbal bullying behavior levels of sports spectators. Pearson correlation analysis was performed to determine the relationship between communication skills and physical-verbal bullying behaviors. In the related analyzes, the level of significance was evaluated as α = 0.05. As a result of this research, which was carried out with the aim of examining the relationship between the communication skills of sports spectators and physical-verbal bullying behaviors; It has been determined that male sports spectators exhibit more Physical-verbal bullying behavior than female sports spectators, and sports spectators with low income levels exhibit more Physical-verbal bullying behaviors. Another result obtained in the present study is; It has been determined that sports spectators with low communication skills exhibit more physical-verbal bullying behaviors compared to individuals with high communication skills. Based on these results, it can be said that there is a relationship between communication skills and physical bullying.
