Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this research is to evaluate, individually and socially, how people who participate in individual or team sports activities, are affected by Covid 19 in terms of anxiety levels of being infected based on some variables ( age, gender, education background, sports type). A total of 200 people participated in the study, 94 of whom (47%) were female and 106 of whom were male (53%), who are actively training in different districts of Istanbul. A simple random sampling method was applied in the selection. ''Anxiety Scale of Athletes of Catching the Novel Coronavirus Disease (Covid-19) (AACNCS) '' is used to collect data. The IBM SPSS 28 Package Program was used in the analyses of the data obtained in the study. Percentage and frequency values were examined in order to determine the demographic characteristics of the participants. The study data showed normal distribution. Within this scope, the Independent Samples t- Test (Turkey) was applied in order to identify whether there is a meaningful difference between the groups. One-Way Variance Analysis (ANOVA) was used to determine the source of the difference. The educational background of the participants is 35,5 % of whom graduated from high school, 57 % of whom hold bachelor's degrees, and 7,5 % of whom hold master's degrees. Age variable is constituted of individuals 25,5% between the age of 15-22, 39,5 % between the age of 23-29; 15,5% between the age of 30-39; 19,5 % are above 40 years old. In this research, it was found that females have higher points compared to males in terms of AACNCS and the individual anxiety (IA) and socializing anxiety (SA) sub-dimensions. (p<0.05). From the point of age variable, it has been determined that based on socializing anxiety sub-dimensions and AACNCS findings, athletes, who are above 40, have a higher level of anxiety about being infected than 23-29 year-olds(p<0.05). According to the sports branch variable, no meaningful difference was found. (P>0,05). As a conclusion, it was found that as the age progresses, the anxiety of being infected with the novel Covid-19 also progresses, and the anxiety levels of females are higher compared to males.
