Analyzing the Suhrawardi's symbolic stories as Akl-i Surh, Âvâz-i Per-i Jibreel and Kissatü'l Ğurbeti'l Ğarbiyye

The subject of the thesis is analyzing the Suhrawardi's symbolic stories as Akl-ı Surh, Avaz-i Per-i Jibreel and Kıssatü'l Ğurbeti'l Ğarbiyye. The subject is developed through primary sources written by Suhrawardi himself and through works performed by researchers of the area. This study aims to understand and interpret Suhrawardi's symbolism and related symbolic stories by examining Suhrawardi's brief life story, the basic ideas and principles of Ishraqi School established by himself. Suhrawardi spent his short life on the reading, research and writing activities showing great efforts and waives. He first became proficient in Meşşaî Philosophy, but since his tempted soul did not satisfied with the mental and philosophical witness, he entered into spiritual journey and asceticism to reach sincerity or pleasure. Finally, he paired up witness and wisdom by synthesizing them ingeniously through his Hikmeti İşrak School. This study, in the light of the Suhrawardi's works, concluded that the most important knowledge of salvation is the wisdom acquired sincerely or joyfully.
