Surgical treatment results in talus fractures

Introduction and aim: The aim of this research is to measure the clinical,radiological and functional results of the surgical treatment applied in our institute for talus fractures, which is still one of the most difficult ankle and foot traumas with questionnaires and imaging methods Method: 32 patients aged over 18 years who was operated on in Hatay Mustafa Kemal University Tayfur Sökmen Medicine Faculty Orthopedics and Traumatology Clinic, because of talus fracture between January 2011 and June 2021 were included in the research. The patient files were evaluated retrospectively. Our research was carried through by the evaluation of the functional, clinical and radiological results of the patients. Results: Complication occured at the 17 (%53,12) of 32 talus fractures which were evaluated. The most frequent two complications were arthrosis n=10 (%31,25) and avascular necrosis n=6 (%18,75). Complications were most frequently seen at talus body fractures. The average of the AOFAS test which we applied to evaluate the functionality of the patients' feet was 80,31 ± 16,37. The total AFI index of our patients was 26,13 ± 19,67. Conclusion: The results of our patients who were operated on in our institute because of talus fractures are satisfactory in terms of functional, clinical and radiological aspects.
