Abstract (EN)

Technology is developing and growing hand-in-hand with science. When we think of technology as a concept, it can be said that its existence and development depends heavily on science. Technology today has become a key aspect of our lives where almost everyone uses it individually; for jobs, for treatments and many other facets including our private lives. Just as technology has many positive effects on human lives, it also has a lot of negative effects. It seems impossible to even imagine this imaginary universe with no end in sight. Just as technology has different effects on people, it also has different effects on spaces. People have always had a curiosity regarding what the future for humankind will hold and as a result, many different ideas and theories have been suggested. How the spaces will be with the effect of technology in future scenarios is also considered as a separate subject of curiosity. The best visual examples of what the future might look like regarding architecture, spaces and products have been presented through the art of cinema. The methods used in the art of cinema and technology are reflected to the audience through science fiction films. In these kind of films, the effects of technology on people and on spaces can be easily noticed. Amongst many different examples of science fiction movies, the ones that rise out of the ruck usually come with a theme of dystopia. One of the reasons for this is that some people believe that the overuse of technology, the intensity of consumerism and a changing, developing, intelligent world creates a problematic future scenario. Factors such as the use of technology in wars, the intensity of consumption that it causes, the pollution of living spaces, and an even greater pollution of the environment make science fiction films more and more dystopian. Dystopia evokes topics such as, a negative future, an evil world, and a dark new universe. The Black Mirror series, which is taken as an example in this thesis, is a series in the genre of science fiction that has processed dystopias formed due to technology, and it uses new and advanced spaces quite a lot. The aim of the study is to examine the future scenarios for spaces and lives that may undergo a process of change with the development of technology through the Black Mirror series episodes that operate on the theme of dystopia and to reveal the differences between them.
