Abstract (EN)
This thesis aims to examine the poems of Tevfik Fikret in the context of pain. The first part focuses on the concept of "pain" and "how the consciousness perceive the pains arising from human body" has been studied.. The study also analyses the effects of language and culture in the process of perception. On the other hand, the research has tried to dwell on the attitutes of Islam, Judaism and Christianity towards the feeling of pain. In the second part of the work, the feeling of pain in human spirit has been examined within the concepts of melancholy, romanticism and decadence, focusing on the history of the approaches that judge "the feeling of pain" as negative. In the last part of the study, settled ideas about Tevfik Fikret have been examined in the context of pain. A perspective of evaluation that Tevfik Fikret should be examined by regarding the similitarities between his life, character and the era that he lived at has been suggested . In this way, Tevfik Fikret's concepst about art and poetry have been studied under the lights of notions of mourning and dead loss.
