Abstract (EN)

In this study, 239 patients were investigated retrospectively who have isolated tibial fractures, and treated surgically between June-2010 and July 2014. 101 patients who have delayed union or nonunion included Group I. 138 patients who have union included group II. It's aimed to analysis the factors, which are effective about union. Mean age of patients was 32, 7. There was a concentration in Patients between 20 – 39 ages (139 patients). 185 of 239 patients were male (77,4%), and 54 of 239 patients (22,6%) were female. Number of right tibial fractures was 112(46,9%), and number of left tibial fractures was 127(53,1%). 170 of 239 fracture (71,1%) were open fracture, 69 of 239 fracture(28,9) were closed. Traffic accident was the first etiological factor of trauma with number 159 (66,5%). External fixators were used on 65(27,2%) patients, intramedullary nails were used on 138(57,7%) patients, and plates – screws were used on 36 patients (15,1) for fracture fixation. Delayed union and nonunion were found more often in smokers (p=0,005), in segmented fractures (p=0,011), in AO C2-3 classified fractures (p=0.001), in with fibular fracture (p=0,043), in fractures which treated by external fixators (p=0,001), and in patients with diastasis postoperatively.
