Abstract (EN)
SUMMARY TOTEMS AND SYMBOLS IN TURKISH CULTURE Key Words: Totem, symbol, symbolism, holy, mythology, belief The symbols that have an important place in many nations' histories have an important place in Turkish culture and Turkish histories too. It also important to understand these symbols, their histories and their meanings for learning about the people's cultures, lifestyles and the natural events the effected these people. The appearance of the prosperousness and the symbols is as old as the humanity histories. From the human beings till now, humanity indicates the cohole value s which represents them and has a sacred meaning. These indicatings are sometimes for a sacred and unhurted animal, sometimes for the frequency visited sacred-places, sometimes for a symbol and sometimes for a flag. I have prepared this study to establish the importance of the prospero uses and the symbols in Turkish historic, to understand the cultural value s that changed and influenced Turkish folk. In the first section of the study, I have tried to determine the sacred, screed's meaning, its source and its qualities. Also I have determined the kind of screeds that Turks interested and the common qualities and properties of these screeds. In the second section, I have pointed about the prosperouses and the symbols that exist, in Turkish culture. Also, in this section, I have described the meaning of the prosperouses and the symbols, their scope and other relationed terms. I have determined the symbols about the numbers, colors, animals, sovereignty and kingdom of the Turkish culture. Also, in the third section, I have pointed about the sacred existences. And I have the sacred symbols on separated headings. In this study of mine, I have appraised the obtained findings of the prosperouses and the symbols that have a strong value in Turkish culture, according to the aim. iv
