Abstract (EN)

In our study, we aimed to determine the morphometric analysis of the proximal femur according to age and gender and compare it with the literature by measuring the radiography images (RG) of male and female individuals belonging to the Turkish population. Our measurements were performed on the pelvic RG of individuals between the ages of 18-75 who applied to Necmettin Erbakan University Meram Faculty of Medicine, Department of Radiology. In the study, measurements were made on the pelvic RG of a total of 270 people, 134 men and 136 women. Individuals were divided into six groups consisting of 18-25, 26-35, 36-45, 46-55, 56-65, 66-75 age ranges. Cases with diseases affecting bone development, fractures in the hip joint and thigh region, previous surgery and prosthesis were not included in the study. Measurements of the length, width, depth and angles of the proximal femur were made using the PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System) system. Statistical analyzes of the obtained data were analyzed with the SPSS 21.0 program. Analysis results were given as mean, standard deviation, minimum (min) and maximum (max). Higher values were measured in the measurements made in men (p<0.05). Caput femoris diameter (CaFÇ), collum femoris width (CoFG), head and neck axis length (BBEU), femur inclination angle (FIA), tear drop distance (GD), linea intertrochanterica length measurements (LiUsuperior, LiUmiddle, and LiUinferior) on the right side of all individuals ) were found to be statistically significantly higher (p<0.05). On the left side, the length of the collum femoris (CoFU), horizontal offset (HO), and alsberg angle (AA) were found to be statistically significantly higher (p<0.05). A significant positive correlation was found between the length measurements on the right and left sides. In our study, with the statistical analyzes we reached in the proximal femur measurements; We have reached the data that we think is important in revealing the average standard data of the Turkish population. We obtained data that can be used in comparison of gender determination and right-left side measurements with the parameters we measured in our study. We believe that the comparative analysis of studies to be conducted in our community or in other societies will help to better understand the proximal femur morphology and clinical conditions that may be encountered in this region. Keywords: Gender estimation, morphometry, proximal femur, radiography.
