Abstract (EN)

The history of Turkish Painting Art, over five hundred years, shaped traditional dimension in the Ottoman period and contemporary Turkish Painting Art with the inclination to become westernized undergoing some formal changes in a period still continuing today. The line of development in art starting with especially Renaissance in the west, with formations undergoing in approximately five hundred years till today, has a fundamental accumulation for its art and culture. For the artist, formation on such a fundamental basis came out with very productive results. Methods of artistic forms or style programs as a result of artistic activities in the early periods of Republic opened a new era in which individual talents were proven in Turkish Painting Art. Turkish artist made new arrangements with line and color out of definite cliches, with a city notion, reckoned the effects coming from west from the start, and with this a new local-national notion dominated the art. It is observed that most of the Turkish artists who inclined to abstraction started working to become aware of the local and national values; elements of local and national ornament, miniature and calligraphy were reformed and seen with their characteristics in the pictures.
