Abstract (EN)

Some studies have been carried out on the Turkish novel of the Atatürk era, taking into account various perspectives and themes. It can be said that the works written in a time when many social issues such as the Ataturk era and the changes that expanded within the scope of modernization and spread to all layers of the society were experienced together and in a multifaceted way, were affected by these intense changes to a certain extent. Most of the studies have remained in the circle of politics and social life and era that incorporates many complex social elements such as economic depression, revolutions and modernization has never been examined with the literature of an economic concept such as development and with an interdisciplinary method. Ataturk era; It has a term density suitable fort he "complexity" condition that is one of the main elements of interdisciplinary approaches. In the light of the concept of development, which is a part of the science of economics, by realising the ceonomic and social richness of this period, the reflections of the development understanding of Aataturk's period in the novels written between 1923-1938 were examined. The first originality of this study is its evaluation of the content of the literary Works with an interdisciplinary method. The study titled The Idea of Economic Development in Turkish Novel, which was revealed by examining one hundred and sixty-four published novels, forty-five serialized novels in fifteen years with the terminology of economics and economic history, was not satistified with the economic process between 1923-1938. Since it is not possible for all of the novels written in fifteen years to reflect this period, the economic period starting from the foundation years of the Ottoman Empire until 1938 has been examined in detail. The second originality of the study is that unlike other studies, both printed and serialized novels are discussed together in this study. The study, in which all kinds of relations related to the concept of development and economic life are established within a wide research material, consists of five titles. Based on the idea that development was made by the state and with personal efforts, the economic life in the Ottoman and Republican periods was presented in a chronological order and depending on historical truths. Under the title of personal development, both the entrepreneurial type and the consumer type are discussed according to non–Muslim, Muslim, local, female and male elements. The elements of the economic life in the village and the village development policies of the governments were carefully examined to the extent that they were reflected in the literary works and the concept of development in the Turkish novels written between 1923-1938 was examined with a rich material and a broad perspective.
