Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this study is to show which effects the provisions related to corporate governance principles which have been regulated as mandatory application within the scope of Turkish Commercial Code No. 6102 will breed with regard to family businesses. In this study, a general frame concerning family businesses and corporate governance subjects has been drawn and the regulations which made under Turkish Commercial Code No. 6102, have been evaluated within the scope of four main elements of corporate governance, namely transparency, fairness, accountability and responsibility principles. In the study, specific categories concerning provisions of Turkish Commercial Code No. 6102 have been established in accordance with corporate governance principles. At first, the regulations covered within these specific categories have been assessed within the scope of corporate governance principles, and then with regards to family businesses positive and negative outcomes which will be brought forth by these regulations have been discussed.
