Abstract (EN)

The issue of income distribution refers to the allocation of the total income generated within an economy during a certain period among the elements that generate that income. Throughtout the historical process, many schools of economic thought have approached the matter of income distribution from their own perspectives. In this context, throughout this study, the effects of the transition process to neoliberal economic policies on income distribution have been discussed from the perspective of various schools of economics, and it was aimed to evaluate especially the practices in Turkey post-1980. From this point of view, a literature review on income distribution was conducted, the types and measurement methods in which income distribution was discussed were examined, some economic schools that have expressed their viewpoints on distribution were selected and the policies they proposed were put forward. The literature review was supported by the statistical studies of institutions such as OECD, SBB, and TUIK. As a result of the study, it has been seen that post-Fordist production model and the globally-experienced neoliberal policies since the 1980s have also been applied in Türkiye, leading to an increase in income inequalities. This study is expected to contribute to the existing literature regarding the perspectives of schools of economic thought on reducing income inequalities and policy implementations.
