Abstract (EN)
Each historical heritage building is unique in nature. However, they are much more than just physical assets, as they carry historical values and cultural heritage items for all humanity. Restoration and conservation works are carried out meticulously in order to protect historical assets in the globalizing world. The development of technology from past to present has given the opportunity to draw design and construction projects in computer environment. This working environment, together with the developing technology day by day, has led researchers to develop a working environment called Building Information Modeling (BIM). However, the use of Building Information Modeling (BIM) for historical buildings is still a topic of study, as this technology only focuses on the construction and management of new structures. Today's Turkey is very rich in terms of the abundance of historical buildings. Despite this, research shows that the use of BIM for historical buildings has not yet become widespread. In addition, some negativities that occur during the works on historical buildings slow down the restoration and conservation works. The wrong interventions applied to the historical structures as a result of the late response of the public institutions responsible for conservation to the requested requests, the fact that the information about the historical buildings are kept scattered and only on paper rather than in a single archive, often insufficient information can be reached about the building to be studied and adequate communication between the people working during the project is unintentional. Therefore, within the scope of the study, the benefits of using HBIM for the documentation of historical buildings in Turkey and the management of restoration projects were investigated. For this, first of all, four restoration companies were interviewed and it was understood that there was no awareness about HBIM. On top of that, a literature study was conducted and it was seen that the studies on HBIM in Turkey were very limited and the studies on HBIM at the international level were examined. Examined studies; For the use of HBIM technology, it has been seen that first of all, point clouds are created for the analysis of the existing structural situation with the laser scanning method, then the data is cleaned and transferred to the HBIM environment, and then the studies are completed by entering the information about the historical structure. As a result, studies have shown that the structure can be documented in a digital environment and project management can be completed in a healthy way based on a cooperation between employees through this environment. However, although laser scanning is used to provide measurement data for restoration and conservation projects in today's Turkey, it is not shown as a work item in tenders because the method is costly in most cases. In addition, by drawing the data obtained from the scan only in a two-dimensional environment, the architectural, electrical, mechanical, etc. of the structure studied. It was observed that the projects progressed in isolation from each other. On top of that, HBIM; based on its many benefits such as being economical and user-friendly, producing fast solutions, producing error-free, archiving all information, and providing a common working environment among professionals, the applicability of HBIM to a historical wooden mansion in Turkey was examined. Two different situations between the two-dimensional completed Project and the HBIM-applied project were compared. Based on this, it is thought that with the applicability and benefits of the study in Turkey, it will shed light on future studies in terms of facilitating the projects by increasing the use of technology in restoration and conservation projects.
