Academic perspective on folk dance phenomenon in Turkey: Content analysis of postgraduate thesis

In the research study named "Academic Perspective On Folk Dance Phenomenon In Turkey: Content Analysis Of Postgraduate Thesis" postgrad thesis studies are analysed that discuss Turkish folk dances, between the years 1998-2018. These postgrad thesis studies are found in National Thesis Central System of Council of Higher Education (https://tez.yok.gov.tr). In this research study, tendencies of postgrad thesis studies that are about Turkish folk dances are identified according to their research topics. Thus it is aspired to take turn and provide convenience to future research studies. In addition to this purpose, it can be stated that it will save us from information and data complexity by sorting these postgrad thesis studies. In the first chapter, meanings of the codes and themes that are going to be used in the research method, content analysis, are researched with an extensive literature review and their terminological meanings and purposes in this research study are expressed. In the second chapter, content analysis is applied by examining 185 postgrad thesis study that are included in the research study. Thesis number, author, year, thesis sort, the name of the thesis study, the university and the institution that the thesis study was carried out, the codes and themes that are defined in the research study and codes and themes that they are related to are expressed by creating marking tags for every thesis In the third chapter, the data that are procured about the problems of research study are expressed as diagrams and charts. Qualitative data that emerged are interpreted in order to be a resource for the studies that are going to be carried out in the field.
