Analysis of the innovation structure of Turkish manufacturing industry by mapping method

The concepts of technology and innovation, which were quickly integrated into the world order after the industrial revolution, have also been influential in the growth and development strategies of countries in the global competitive environment. Considered as a driving force for countries especially after 1980; R&D and Innovation studies are seen as an important and dynamic support. In today's world dominated by science and technology, it is difficult or even impossible to say that the economic system is not affected by technology. Therefore, in today's conditions, it has become essential to use the innovations of the sectors' and to implement information-technology-based policies. Therefore, the concept of innovation emerges as an important factor especially in terms of production.R&D activities, patent studies, scientific publications, number of researchers, etc., which are accepted as innovation indicators are used by countries in order to follow their development. In the study, the patent data set was used as an innovation indicator. The mapping method was used in the analysis of the study, in which the 2009-2020 period data were used. The study was carried out specifically for the manufacturing industry sub-sectors with medium-high technology.As a result of the analysis; It has been determined that the sub-sectors belonging to the medium-high technology group in Turkey have developed positively over the years. It has been concluded that this development is not sufficient in the global competitive environment and that companies operating in this sector should be supported with incentive policies in order to have a chance to compete with other countries.
