Developments in Turkey's agricultural products production and foreign trade summary

This study was conducted to examine the developments in Turkey's Agrıcultural Products Production and Foreign Trade in the period of 2010 – 2019 (10 years). Secondary data was used in the research, in order to measure competitiveness in foreign trade, "Foreign Trade Index (TDI) calculation was made. During the period under review, in examined period, agricultural production and foreign trade increased, and an annual average of 16,2 billion dolars in exports, 11,3 billion dollars in imports and 4,9 billion dolars in foreign trade surplus were determined. When the foreign trade of agricultural products is examined at the level of products, positive developments were observed in some products and negative developments in some products. According to the foreign trade index calculation, it has been determined that we are net exporters in 24 of the tariffs and importes in 21 of them. In the light of the findings obtained, short, long and medium-term policies should be determined and impemented in order to become self sufficient in agricultural production and a more competitive earning export country in international markets in the following periods.
