Abstract (EN)

This study was carried out to examine the developments in chicken meat production, consumption, marketing and foreign trade in the period of 2000-2019 (20 years) in Turkey. Secondary data were used in the research. In the examined period, the presence of poultry in Turkey increased and reached 348.8 million in 2019, of which 63.6% (229.5 million units) is broiler chickens. The presence of broiler chickens in Turkey is concentrated in the East Marmara, Aegean, West Marmara and Mediterranean regions, and the main producing provinces are Manisa, Balıkesir, Bolu, Sakarya and Mersin. Chicken meat production reached 2.1 million tons in 2019. Chicken meat consumption in Turkey in 2019 is 19.1 kg on average per person. Chicken meat exports account for 95.2% ($544.2 million) of poultry exports in 2019. It has been found that the most important countries in Turkey's chicken meat export are Iraq, Hong Kong, Libya and Congo. As a result of the research, in order to ensure a steady growth in chicken meat production in the future and to become a more competitive exporter country in international markets, short, medium and long-term policies should be determined and implemented in the production and marketing stages.
