Abstract (EN)
Within the scope of this research, it is aimed to examine the relationships between emotion regulation, forgiveness and interpersonal problem-solving in university students. The study group consists of 498 students studying at different universities in Turkey and TRNC in the years 2020-2021. The data in the study were collected with Emotion Regulation Questionnaire, Heartland Forgiveness Scale and Interpersonal Problem Solving Inventory. The data in the research were analyzed with SPSS 20 and AMOS 22 programs. In this study, the findings were obtained by Independent Group T-test, Pearson Correlation Coefficient, Path Analysis method from the Structural Equalition Modeling. In the research, a model designed for the relationship between emotion regulation strategies, forgiveness and interpersonal problem solving approaches was tested. As a result of testing the constructed model, reappraisal directly and significantly predicts positive problem solving and forgiveness. Reappraisal does not directly and significantly predicts negative problem-solving. Suppression directly and significantly predicts negative problem solving and forgiveness. Suppression does not directly and significantly predicts positive problem-solving. Forgiveness directly and significantly predicts positive and negative problem-solving. Reappraisal indirectly predicts positive and negative problem solving through forgiveness. Suppression indirectly predicts positive and negative problem solving through forgiveness. These findings obtained in the research were discussed and interpreted within the scope of the literature. Suggestions were made to researchers and practitioners for future studies.
