Investigation of the effect of recreative activities on the life satisfaction and the meaning of leisure time in the light of different variables in university students

The aim of this study; By examining the relationship between life satisfaction and the meaning of leisure time in university students; The aim of this study is to investigate the opinions of university students on recreational activities and to examine the reasons why they turn to these activities and their relationship with life satisfaction. For this purpose, a questionnaire consisting of questions about leisure participation and satisfaction was applied to a total of 406 individuals studying at Necmettin Erbakan University. The opinions of the participants about life satisfaction and the meaning of leisure time were discussed comparatively according to demographic parameters such as gender, age, income level, department, choice and frequency of leisure activities. 406 data were analyzed with SPSS 23.0 program. According to the results of the Skewness and Kurtosis test performed to determine whether the data showed a normal distribution, it was determined that the data showed a normal distribution. After it was determined that the data showed a normal distribution, independent samples t-test was performed for independent variables with 2 options, and one-way analysis of variance (Anova) was performed for variables with more than two options. Pearson Correlation analysis was carried out to determine the relationship between the related scales. As a result, in this study, in which the relationship between life satisfaction and the meaning of leisure time was examined, the students of Necmettin Erbakan University, who constituted the sample group, on the relationship between the meaning of recreational activities and life satisfaction; significant differences according to the gender, age and income level variable, and no significant difference according to the faculty and type of education variable.
