Abstract (EN)

This study examines the relationship between university students' coping styles with stress, spirituality levels, and cigarette addiction. The research seeks to answer the following key question: Is there a significant relationship between cigarette addiction, coping styles with stress, and spirituality among university students? The study employs a correlational research design, which is one of the quantitative research methods. The sample consists of 315 undergraduate students (202 females, 113 males) studying at universities in Turkey. The data collection tools used in the study include the Personal Information Form, Coping with Stress Scale, Spirituality Scale, and the Fagerström Test for Nicotine Dependence (FTND). Independent Samples T-Test, Pearson Correlation, and Multiple Linear Regression analyses were applied to test the research hypotheses. According to the findings, submissive approach and seeking social support, as coping styles, were found to have significant relationships with cigarette addiction. The analysis of the relationship between coping styles and spirituality levels revealed that optimistic and self-confident coping styles had positive and significant relationships with spirituality levels. However, no significant relationship was found between spirituality levels and cigarette addiction. The results of the study were discussed and interpreted within the framework of the relevant literature.
