An investigation on the relationship between risks of using addictive substances, meaning and purpose of life, and childhood abuse experiences of university students

The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between university students' risk of using addictive substances, the meaning and purpose of life, and childhood abuse experiences. The research includes university students. Data were collected online and the online survey application was carried out via Google Forms. Within the scope of the research, 385 people were reached. The questionnaire consists of a questionnaire for socio-demographic characteristics, BAPIRT Screening Scale, Childhood Trauma Scale (CESS) and Meaning and Purpose of Life Scale. Relational screening model was used in the research. Data analysis of the research was done in SPSS 21 package program. In the study, the relationship between the Risk of Use of Addictive Substances, Childhood Abuse and Meaning and Purpose of Life variables were tried to be determined. As a result of the research, a positive relationship was found between the perception of the Risk of Use of Addictive Substances (BAPIRT) and Childhood Abuse Experiences (CEAS) and a negative relationship was found with Meaning and Purpose of Life. According to the test results, no statistically significant relationship was found between the perception of Childhood Trauma and the Meaning and Purpose of Life.
