Abstract (EN)

In our research, it is aimed to examine how university students cope with the sources of stress they face in school and social environments, and the relationships between personality typologies and problem-solving skills. Within the scope of the research, questionnaires were applied online to 536 university students. Five Factor Personality Traits Scale, Problem Solving Inventory and Stress Coping Styles scales were used. The collected data were analyzed with the SPSS 25.0 program. It has been found that women have higher emotional stability scores than men from the sub-dimensions of BFI. It was determined that participants with high academic grade averages had higher openness to experience scores than participants with lower grade point averages. Compared to women, men were found to be hasty and avoidant in the problem-solving process. A positive and significant correlation was found between PSI hasty and avoidant total scores and Stress Coping Styles, Self Confident, Optimistic, Social Support-Seeking Approach and Negative, Helpless and Submissive Approach. According to our analysis results, it is seen that students have high adaptability and openness to experience, have high problem solving perceptions, and adopt the most helpless and self-confident approach to stressful situations.
