The professional competence of the teacher is essential, and important in teaching the Arabic language to non-native speakers. In this study the concept of professional competence of the teacher, the role of the professional teacher, and its importance in teaching Arabic non-native speakers were defined and inform the officials in education in training the teacher on how to acquire those competencies, and the need to choose appropriate methods and ways of teaching to achieve the goals of the educational situation. In addition, the methods to be followed to achieve the desired goals in teaching Arabic language to the foreign, and the important talents and qualities in a successful teacher, and the purpose of teaching Arabic language for non-Arabic speakers were clarified. A field study was conducted to determine the professional competencies of the teachers of the Arabic language for non-native speakers, and to know the extent of their practice by preparing a list of competencies for the teachers of the Arabic language for non-native speakers. This was done using a questionnaire. The list of professional competencies required 5 basic areas, and 40 competences. The survey was conducted on the teachers of Arabic for non-native speakers of different nationalities residing in Turkey or in Arab countries or other countries. The sample number selected from the total responses received was 28 responses for this study.The results of the study were to build a list of the professional competencies needed for teachers of Arabic language for non-native speakers, in addition to determining the extent of practicing the professional competencies of Arabic language teachers.
