Abstract (EN)

In burn heat, electricity, chemical agents and radiation effect causes the energy that can not be tolerated by the tissues and coagulation necrosis occurs. The severity of burn is associated with increased temperature, the duration of exposure and the thickness of the effected skin. In small superficial burns organism can heal by the local answer but in wide and deep burns sistemic injury even death can occur. In our study we evaluated the data of 1003 patients admitted to Dicle university hospital between 2006 and 2007 suffering from boiling, flame and electrical burns. After the first treatment of patiens in emergency department according to the severity of burn some were transferred to burn unit some were transferred to pediatric intensive care unit and some require only outpatient treatment. 925 (92, 3%) of 1003 patient accepted to the study survived (group 1) and 78 (7,7%) patient died (group 2). Total mortality ratio was 7,7% ın the study we researched the factors effecting on mortality in boiling, flame and electric burns. We found that male sex was highly meaninigful in mortality (p=0.000) and female sex was highly meaningful in survival (p=0.000).we found that age is an important factor in mortality. All the age groups were meaningful (p<0.005) but patients older then 40 (p=0.000) for mortality and patients yonger then 10 years for the risk of burns were considered as the high risk groups. The size of the burn between 21?40 % (p=0.034), size of burn >%41 (p=0.000), deep partial-thickness burns were found as high risk. The patients admitted to pediatric intensive care unit had high mortality. The patients that admitted to burn unit and required outpatient treatment had lower risk. Hospitalization longer then 10 days (p=0.000), the presence of delirium during admission (p=0.001), existence of hiperürisemia (p=0.006), sepsis development (p=0.000), hipovolemic shock (p=0.000), positive blood cultures (p=0.000), positive wound cultures (p=0.000), pseudomonas proliferation in cultures (p=0.000) were facts important over mortality. In addition patients that required early debridement, skin grafting, fasciotomy, were the high risk groups for mortality.
