Abstract (EN)

In this study, two new acrylamide monomers were synthesized first time. One of them is N-(1-phenylethyl) acrylamide monomer and the other one is N-acryloyl-L-tryptophan monomer. After that, the crosslinked copolymers of each monomer with the crosslinking ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (EGDMA) monomer and the methyl methacrylate (MMA) monomer were synthesized. In these syntheses, benzoyl peroxide (BPO) was used as the initiator and poivinylalcohol (PVAL) was used as a regulator. These cross-linked copolymers obtained are poly(EGDMA-co-MMA-co-N-(1-phenylethyl)acrylamide) and poly(EGDMA-co-MMA-co-N-acryloyl-L-tryptophan). The synthesized monomer and copolymers were characterized by FT-IR, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, solid NMR, elemental analysis and TGA/DTA techniques. In the second stage of the study, It was invastigate to remove Cu(II), Ni(II) and Co(II) ions from aqueous solutions by poly(EGDMA-co-MMA-co- N-(1-phenylethyl)acrylamide) and poly(EGDMA-co-MMA-co-N-acryloyl-L-tryptophan) cross-linked copolymers by adsorption. The pH, initial solution concentration and contact time affecting the adsorption efficiency were invastigated. Kinetic examinations were performed for all three ions. The kinetic data obtained were applied to Lagergren, Ho Mc Kay, Weber Morris and Elovich equations. Kinetic experimental data with both cross-linked copolymers showed that copper, nickel and cobalt ions conform to the Ho Mc Kay velocity equation. In the last part of the study, desorption of metal ions adsorbed to the cross-linked copolymers and reusability of these copolymers were investigated.
