Abstract (EN)

This study was planned and carried out to determine the relationship between intuitive eating status and chronic constipation and iron deficiency anemia in adult female individuals living in Gaziantep. The study was conducted with 70 female volunteers aged between 18-65. Female individuals were included in the study on the condition that they were not pregnant and diagnosed with iron deficiency anemia. As a data collection tool; A form containing demographic characteristics and anthropometric measurement information, and a questionnaire questioning disease history and nutritional habits were used. The Intuitive Eating Scale (IES-2) was used to examine the participants' intuitive eating status, and the Constipation Scale was used to examine their constipation status. The rate of participants diagnosed with iron deficiency anemia in the last year was found to be 98.6%, and 76.6% were found to have taken iron supplements for anemia. It was determined that 47.1% of the participants diagnosed with iron deficiency anemia were intuitive eaters. It was found that there was a significant and positive relationship between the participants' intuitive eating status and daily sleep hours. It was determined that there was a negative relationship between the participants' drug use and body weight gain in the last year and their intuitive eating status. When the relationship between participants' BMI levels and intuitive eating status was examined, it was found that there was a statistically significant and negative relationship; As the intuitive eating score of the participants increased, a decrease was found in their BMI levels. While 17.1% of the participants diagnosed with iron deficiency anemia had no constipation symptoms, 35.7% were found to have chronic constipation. When the relationship between participants' BMI levels and constipation status was examined, it was found that there was a statistically significant and positive relationship; As the participants' BMI levels increased, constipation symptoms also increased. Constipation symptoms were found in 13.5% of women with iron deficiency anemia who did not eat intuitively and in 21.2% of women who fed intuitively; It has been determined that there is no significant difference between the constipation levels of women who eat intuitively and those who do not.
