Abstract (EN)

This study aims to investigate the effect of resistance band exercises applied to the adult tennis players. 30 males playing tennis actively in Gaziantep DEFI (Tennis Tournament) participated in this study voluntarily and these people were randomly divided into control (n=15) and experimental (n=15) groups. The demographical infomations (Age, Height, Weight) of these players attending to this study were taken and in order to measure tennis skills, 8 week tennis and resistance band training was started by applying the International Tennis Number (ITN) test. Repeated Measure Analysis of Variance, Profile Analysis Technique and Bonferroni Multiple Comparison Test was used to compare the data gathered. These statistical analyses were made using SPSS for Windows (ver.20). According to the results of Repeated Measure Analysis of Variance which was used to determine whether the pretest and posttest of the groups differ in terms of the groups, and Bonferroni Multiple Comparison test; Ground Strokes Depth and Power test (P=0.001), Ground Strokes Accuracy and Power test (P=0.000), Volley Depth and Power test (P=0.000), Serve test (P=0.002), Total ITN Point (P=0.000) were found to be statistically significantly high in favor of the experimental group. At the same time, Control and Experimental groups' posttest values were found to be significantly higher than the pretest values. As a result of this study, it can be said that resistance band exercises applied with tennis trainings have a positive effect on the performance of tennis strike and resistance band exercises can be applied in tennis trainings.
