The results of the study indicates a statistically significant positive relationship between "Impaired Autonomy and Self Assertion, Disconnection and Rejection, Impaired Limits, Other Directedness, Overvigilance and Inhibition" schemas and state and trait anxiety. The results also reveal an explicit relationship between Impaired Autonomy and Self Assertion schemas. Regression analysis shows that state anxiety for adults is positively predicted by Impaired Autonomy and Self Assertion schema while trait anxiety for adults is positively predicted by Impaired Autonomy and Self Assertion as well as Overvigilance and Inhibition schemas. Research findings are evaluated and discussed in the light of literature. Keywords: Anxiety, Early Maladaptive Schema, State Anxiety, Trait Anxiety.
