Abstract (EN)
Psychological resilience refers to individuals' ability to cope with difficulties, while personality traits are fundamental characteristics that determine individuals' behaviors, thoughts, and emotions. This thesis aims to examine the relationship between certain personality traits and psychological resilience in adults. The research group consists of 343 individuals aged 18-65. Data were assessed through the "Personal Information Form," "Psychological Resilience Scale for Adults," and "Five-Factor Personality Inventory-Long Form." The findings of the research indicate that as participants' psychological resilience scores increase, traits such as extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, and openness to experience also increase, while emotional instability decreases. Additionally, individuals with belief in psychological resilience tend to have higher levels of psychological resilience. Comparing psychological resilience scores by marital status groups, it was found that singles have the lowest scores, while married individuals have the highest psychological resilience scores. Analyzing the results, it was observed that having a psychiatric diagnosis or receiving psychiatric support does not create differentiation in terms of psychological resilience. Psychological resilience scores were found to increase with age, and women tend to have higher psychological resilience compared to men. In conclusion, there is a relationship between psychological resilience and five-factor personality traits. Moderate positive and significant relationships were found between psychological resilience and extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, and openness to experience at the subscale level, while a moderate negative and significant relationship was found with emotional instability (neuroticism). Further studies are needed with larger samples and examining other factors related to psychological resilience.
